Cost of Construction Going Up

 The price, and the pace, of construction projects in Aspen and on Colorado's Western Slope have risen sharply over the past several years.
Contractors are returning unexpectedly high bids for public sector projects, if they are bidding at all.
Labor costs are up locally due to the shortage of housing and competition from the oil and gas fields on the Western Slope.

Real Estate Assessment Sweetens the Pot

The Basalt Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved 60 more free-market condos in the Willits Town Center project last night, which according to figures from the developer, could be worth at least $45 million dollars.
The project now moves on to Basalt Town Council for further review.
Willits Town Center Partners applied to the town to amend its current approvals for the residential and retail complex now under construction near El Jebel.
